Search for Cleanest and Greenest LGUs underway

Koronadal City – The Search for the Cleanest and Greenest LGUs announced initial evaluation started last February 16 with last year’s champion and grand slam winner Surallah as the first town evaluated by the team of evaluators.

This year’s search will only evaluate 6 LGUs under Cluster I, namely; Surallah, T’boli, Polomolok, City of Koronadal, Tupi and Tampakan, based on its full criteria.

Based on the contest criteria, areas in the LGU hat will be evaluated are Public Market (10%), Public Terminal (5%), Public Plaza and Parks (10%), Barangay (5%), Community Garden (5%), Backyard Garden (5%), Municipal Nursery (10%), Roadside Beautification (10%), Central Material Recovery Facility (10%), Support System (10%) and Other Facilities and Establishments (10%).

Meanwhile, Cluster II LGUs composed of, Banga, Lake Sebu, Norala, Sto. Nino and Tantangan will undergo first a Planning and Budgeting Session with the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) and areas that will only be evaluated are their Barangay, Community Garden and Backyard Garden.

The planning session for Clsuter II LGUs was conducted last February 18 -19 at Villa Princessita, this city, while the evaluation of Cluster II LGUs was made on February 26 -27 and March 3.

Consolidation of the announced initial results was conducted on March 6 by the team of evaluators

The announced initial evaluation has 30 percentage points while the unannounced final evaluation has 70 percentage points.

Evaluators were Elbe Balucanag of PEMO, Jose Perez of PPDO. Engr. Erizaldy Quienes of PEO, Fruto Sumagaysay Jr. of PIO, Julius Mella of ACTS Office, Teresita Sabares of Dole Philippines and Sheree Ann Reyes of South Cotabato Foundation, Inc.
