SouthCot condones tax delinquencies on real properties

Real Property owners will no longer be burdened in paying their taxes this year as the provincial government of South Cotabato offers condonation of penalties and interests on real property tax delinquencies for 2020 and prior years, the office of the Provincial Treasurer announces.

Based on the Provincial Tax Ordinance No. 44 recently approved by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, the period to avail of the condonation of penalties and interest will be from January 1 to June 30, 2021.

Provincial Treasurer Alvim Batol said these property owners can save at least 2% penalty per month based on the yearly RPT not exceeding 72% or 36 months.

Those who can avail of this real property tax condonation are owners of residential, commercial, and industrial properties among others.

Batol added the property owners can pay either in full or partial payment only.

Real Property owners are advised to proceed to their nearest Municipal Treasurer’s Office where their property belongs or to the  Provincial Treasurer’s Office located at the  Ground Floor, Finance Building, Provincial Capitol Compound, City of Koronadal.

Documents to bring include a photocopy of tax declaration, land title, previous RPT receipts, and previous tax bills and letters.

The PTO also announces that those who are not delinquent taxpayers can avail of incentives. These include a 10%  discount on their real property tax when paid on time and 20% discount when paid in advance.
