South Cotabato, Philippines – The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) recently held a successful 4H Provincial Achievement Day event, showcasing the remarkable accomplishments of the youth involved in the 4H Program across the province.
The 4H Program, symbolized by the four H’s — Head, Heart, Hands, and Health — is a youth development initiative aimed at empowering young people, particularly those in rural farming communities, by enhancing their skills, knowledge, and values through agricultural education.
Rommel Eladia, Supervising Agriculturist, emphasized the importance of continued support for programs like 4H.
“OPAg reaffirmed its commitment to fostering agricultural resilience and sustainable development through education, technology, and community involvement, ensuring that the weaving of skills and knowledge continues to strengthen the province’s agricultural sector.” Eladia said.
This year’s event was themed “HIBLA – The Weaving Continues!” with the overarching message HARVEST through 4-H milestone: Harnessing Agriculture Resilience through Vision, Education, Sustainability, and Technology. The theme reflects the program’s commitment to weaving together the strengths of the youth to build a resilient agricultural future.
Participants included 4H members from various municipalities and city within the province, all coming together to celebrate their achievements and growth. The youth proudly displayed their talents and skills during singing contest, Agri-innovation pitching sessions, pop-up quiz, PEAA & Outstanding 4H member, promotional video-making contests, on-the-spot photography contest, and other engaging events.
The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist also took the opportunity to thank the active participation and bright enthusiasm of both the youth and their parents and hoping to nurture the development of young individuals and contribute significantly to the progress of agriculture in the province.
