43 poor families in Tantangan to benefit water supply and road access projects

Tantangan, South Cotabato – 43 households consisting of 222 individuals mostly indigenous people of Sitio Upper Mayada, Barangay Libas this town will benefit from the water supply and road access projects coming from the provincial government of South Cotabato.

These beneficiaries identified as poorest among the poor and mostly dependent on farming as their main source of livelihood were the priority recipients of the program.

Recently, the  South Cotabato Convergence Team in coordination with the  Barangay Affairs Unit (BAU) conducted a profiling and consultation dialogue at the area to assess and evaluate the need of the residents.

During the dialogue with the community, it was the road network, potable drinking water, lack of sanitary toilet, and livelihood as their main problem.

The team led by Engr. Brian De Eyoy and Mr. Rommel Evangelio of PPDO and Mr. Adonis Sollano of BAU conducted the assessment and evaluation of the water source and the road access of the area,  while Mr. Alfredo Galino Jr. of PPDO does the profiling and orientation to the community the services to be rendered by the provincial government of South Cotabato.

Engr. De Eyoy, one of the lead assessors of the project disclosed, one of the objectives of Gov. Reynaldo Tamayo Jr. is to reach out to the poorest of the poor sitios in every barangay of South Cotabato and Sitio Upper Mayada was one of them.

“We will present this to the beloved governor for immediate action. ” De Eyoy said.

One of the pioneering residents of Sitio Upper Mayada extends his gratitude for the help and initiative of the provincial government to their area.  

Mingo Mayada  said, “Nagapasalamat kami kay ang gobyerno na ang gapalapit sa amon subong, sadto nagakaupod pa ang amon mga sapatos ka balik-balik sa gobyerno para lang sapakon ang amon mga gina pangayo nga mga proyekto.”

Mayada added, he is grateful the government is looking into the priority needs of its people and is serious about keeping its promises to the constituents.
