KPSGIAP enlists 130 new scholars

KORONADAL CITY – “It is a big blessing for us scholars to be part of this Kabugwason Paglaum Scholarship and Grant-in-Aid Program .” Angeilyn S. Hambala , Association President of the KPSGIAP  said during the 2-day Orientation and Signing of Memorandum of Agreement held today at the Provincial Capitol Covered court.

Hambala who is a graduating student at the Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Colleges Marbel Inc. said, the scholarship program she got from the province is the fulfillment of her dreams as she wanted to become a teacher someday.

Atty. Jan Kristy Pastor, KPSGIAP Executive Director said that for the two-day affair, a total of  130 new regular scholars together with their parents will enter into a MOA with the provincial government which will comprise Batch 16 of the scholars.

Earlier today, at least 83 initial scholars came over for the said activity. Of the regular scholars, 41 came from the City of Koronadal, and  12 came from the municipality of Tantangan.

Aside from these, 30 more postgraduate scholars also entered into a MOA with the province. These include 20 for the degree in Medicine and 10 for the Law degree.

Meanwhile,  another 77 more news scholars from the municipalities of Polomolok, Tupi, Tampakan, Banga, Norala, Surallah, Sto. Nino, Tboli, and Lake Sebu are set to sign their memorandum of agreement on Friday, December 4.

Provincial Administrator Atty. Renette B. Bergado called on all new scholars to grab this opportunity as the province gives priority to education.

” We are so blessed since we have our own scholarship program,” Bergado said,

The KPSGIAP established in  2003 through Provincial Ordinance No.13 and amended through the provincial Ordinance No.20 in 2014 by the Sangguniang Panlalawigan aims to provide equitable, sustainable, and quality education to poor but deserving students of South Cotabato.

The provincial government of South Cotabato has allocated an initial Php3 million for the first year of its implementation and the same amount for the succeeding years.

With education as one of its priority programs, the allocated budget now reaches Php23 million and it has produced a total of  1,402 graduates of different professional fields.
