PEMO conducts 3-day training on Infectious/Healthcare Wastes Proper Handling

The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) conducted a three (3) Day Training on Infectious/Healthcare Wastes Proper Handling and Management Emergency Preparedness and Response, Operation and Maintenance of Health Care Waste Treatment Facility (Pyroclave Systems Technology) with Hands-on Trouble Shooting at Villa Amor Hotel, City of Koronadal.

At least twenty (20) participants from the South Cotabato Health Care Waste Treatment Facility and from LGU Surallah attended the said training.

For the first two (2) days on March 4 -5, 2021 will be a lecture series, while on March 6, 2021 the participants will proceed to Phil Florencia Beach Resort, Maasim, Sarangani Province for the workshop finalization of the South Cotabato Health Care Waste Treatment Facility Operations Manual and Team Building activities of the participants.

The activity was spearheaded by the Environment Management Division (EMD) in partnership with DENR – EMB 12 and RADICOR Metal Manufacturing.

EMD Chief Ms. Elbe M. Balucanag, said, the objectives of the training include the following: to regulate handling, transport, storage and disposal of health care wastes generated by health care providers operating within the province.

“This is also to strengthen the implementation and enforcement of Provincial Ordinance #6, Series of 2016 otherwise known as the Health Care Waste Management Ordinance; and to sustain smooth and efficient operation of the South Cotabato Health Care Waste Treatment Facility and to comply DENR EMB permitting requirement of TSD Facility.” Balucanag further said,
The resource speakers are Engr. Elias Mamongcal, Chief CHWPS, DENR EMB 12 and Engr. Roderick Dayot of RADICOR Solutions.
