Special projects from Chinese investors underway

Koronadal City—The Provincial Government of South Cotabato is preparing for a possible partnership with Chinese government on local product marketing, solar power and transportation, Provincial Information Officer Rudy Jiminea confirmed.

Through an initial talk with representatives from a Chinese Official and Governor Reynaldo Tamayo, Jr., special projects are allocated in South Cotabato for energy projects and product matching with Malaysian investors, too. They also resumed talks about mono-rail project, connecting the province and General Santos City.

“The governor agrees to accept the Chinese funds to steer up economic activity in South Cotabato and the entire south-central Mindanao. This will also shorten the traveling time to Gensan airport,” Jiminea said.

China is the world’s biggest producer of hydro power and solar panels. The Chinese government is also renegotiating investments with the Philippine government on railway projects.

Jiminea said the investment is very much welcomed in South Cotabato , but is looking into conducting feasible studies on these special projects.

“The funds, however, for energy project is ready,” he said as confirmed to him by the governor during a cabinet meeting recently.

A monorail project was also invested by the Chinese government in 2018 in Iloilo City.
