After the successful launching of the Environmental Sustainability Investment Forum conducted by the Provincial Environment Management Office last June 28 this year, some 14 business establishments and CSOs and 2 individuals have pledged to support the various environment programs instituted by the office.
Forester Mary Jane Manlisis, chief of PEMO – Forest and Inland Water Management Division revealed that the establishments and individuals chose from six (6) environment programs they presented during the forum namely; Nurture for Future, Biodiversity Corridor, Bamboo Development Program, YES-O, TLDFI SHA Promotions Program and Protect IP Project.
“There are no limits as to how many projects you want to support, that’s why some establishments pledged to support as many as they can on the environment programs presented during the forum,” Forester Manlisis disclosed.
Board Member Hilario de Pedro VI, Sangguniang Panlalawigan Committee Chair on Environment and also one of the speakers during the forum, even pledged to support all the environment programs.
Another individual, Ms. Sheila Arjona from Surallah, likewise requested PEMO to provide seedlings for tree-planting activity in an area she wanted to develop in Lake Sebu.
The half-day forum aims to promote the active participation of the business sector to invest in environmental protection and management programs of South Cotabato.
Siegfred Flaviano, PEMO chief, reiterated during the forum that “awareness and appreciation among the business sector on the dynamics and sciences of environmental protection and management and climate change is important in the sustainability of their economic activities.”
PEMO will closely coordinate with the establishments and individuals concerned about the implementation of these projects in the months ahead.
The companies and CSOs that pledged their support were Chiu Bun Gym Inc., Sumifru, McDonald’s, MCCSMAI, JB Gold Processing Plant, AMCOOP, KASILAK Foundation, Inc., SOCOMEDICS Medical Center, Polomolok MPC, CSDO – South Cotabato, Moorehouse Mission Hospital, Refuge Café and BMCH Inc..
