LAKE SEBU, SOUTH COTABATO – Koronadal City-based Composer Rey Ortilano original composition “Dali Don, Tara Na “ won the “Kemnahe Lingon” (I Dream of Songs) Original Songwriting Composition and Interpretation Competition Season I spearheaded by Arts, Culture, Tourism and Museum (ACTM) Development and Promotions Unit.
Ortilano’s composition which was interpreted by Janrell Aliyah Lamzon got not only judges nod but also the cash incentive of P20,000 during the awarding ceremony held at the scenic Punta Isla Lake Resort here last Saturday afternoon (November 21).
The judges were Jennifer Tupas, Ph.D. (Cultural Worker and Lake Sebu NHS Assistant Principal), Jude Roldan (Internationally-published Composer/Arranger), Perlyn Joy Ladot-Enriquez (Music Teacher, Trainor-South Cotabato Chorale, Conductor-Dreamweaver Children’s Chorale), Siegfred Flaviano (PEMO Chief, Band Guitarist) and Joseph Evans Quiaong – (Resident Pianist, International Cruise Ship).
Contestants were judged based on the following criteria: Creativity – 20%,Style – 20%,Originality – 20%,Tourism Promotion & Culture Integration – 20%, Social Media Interaction – 20%.
Meanwhile, Composers from Polomolok Joy Victorio and Ela Salada whose piece entilted “Yakap ng South Cotabato” got the second prize of P15,000 while “Wonders of South Cotabato” of Composer/Interpreter Ryan Gazo of Koronadal City won third prize with a cash incentiveP10,000.
“Yakap ng South Cotabato” were interpreted by trio Jamaeca Mae Gulane, Kearly Joy Victoria and Josh Pepito.
Cnsolation prize winners of P5,000 each were likewise awarded to the following participants: Dali Na, Biyahe Ta! -(Composer – Stephen Celestial) / (Interpreter – Wenmar Alejandro); Beauty of the South – (Composer/ Interpreter – Kim Nathaniel Tan); Let’s Go South Cotabato – (Composer – Justin Santiago) / (Interpreters – Angela Adlawan , Carl Cabayag , Anna Gudis); It’s More Fun in South Cotabato – (Composer/Interpreter – Aldrin Mananes); Sugod Na Sa Sox – (Composer/Interpreter – Adonis Flores Jr.); Timog Mo, Timog Ko! – (Composer – Charlie Magne Mabayag / (Interpreter – Kenneth Cagape, Harvey Joy Bitoon); Mocowo Edeni Be South Cotabato – (Composer – Yzel Duque) / (Interpreters – Romnick Fungan, Hannah Nicole Casa).
Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. personally congratulated ACTM chief Senior Tourism Operations Officer Argie Ryan Asaria for the successful hosting of the event that was also attended by DOT 12 OIC-RD Armin Hautea Jr and Lake Sebu MHO Dr. Jocelyn Bayquin.
