South Cotabato offers limited slots for SPES beneficiaries this year

Koronadal, South Cotabato-In a steadfast commitment to empowering the youth of South Cotabato, Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo Jr. has been a fervent supporter of the Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES). This initiative, in collaboration with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), aims to provide temporary employment opportunities to financially disadvantaged yet deserving students, out-of-school youth, and dependents of displaced workers.

The SPES program not only provides students with practical work experience but also offers financial support to assist with their educational expenses. Participants receive compensation for their work, which helps them fund their studies and gain valuable skills that enhance their future employability.

According to Flora Montoya, PESO Manager, they are committed to accept limited slots beneficiaries this year.

Montoya added that for this year’s summer implementation, the Municipality of Tupi, Tampakan, Tantangan, Banga, Surallah, Norala, Sto. Nino, Lake Sebu and Tboli allotted slots for aspiring students who applied for the said program. For the Municipality of Polomolok they have slots and for Koronadal limited slots.

“Koronadal has the biggest slots for they have the biggest population and applicants as well,” Cavan explained

Furthermore, the salary for this year’s SPES has increased to Php615.00 a day from Php530.00. Before the salary is composed of the 40% counterpart of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and the 60% of the Provincial Government of South Cotabato.

But now, all SPES beneficiaries will receive their full salary directly from the Provincial Government of South
Cotabato.
