Koronadal City—With the increasing number of cases of measles in Metro Manila and other key cities in the country, the Integrated Provincial Health Office of South Cotabato is preparing for the conduct of house-to-house measles vaccination.
Dr. Rogelio Aturdido, Provincial Health Officer, said DOH is looking into the situation of SOCSKSARGEN region because of an outbreak in the province of Sarangani last year.
“We are waiting for a DOH advisory to administer measles immunization through house-to-house,” Aturdido said.
Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) recorded 28 suspected cases of measles as of February 8.
Patients are age 5 months old to 40 years old. The data showed, 21 (75%)of the cases had no history of measles immunization. PESU, however, confirmed no death reported.
There is a high incidence of measles in Polomolok.
“Rest assured that our doctors and other health workers are doing their best to contain the disease,” Aturdido said.
