South Cotabato, Philippines—Brian G. Hervilla, Disability Affairs Officer-1 at the Provincial Disability Affairs Unit (PDAU), is grateful for the provincial government’s bold initiative in providing job opportunities for persons with disabilities (PWDs). Hervilla, who is also a PWD, expressed just how rare and invaluable this chance is for individuals in their sector.
“Thanks to Governor Tamayo’s leadership, PWDs like me are now being given a chance to work and contribute to society. This initiative is a huge help for me and the entire PWD community in the province,” Hervilla said. He stressed that the move by the Provincial Capitol aligns with the provisions of RA 10524, a law that mandates local government units (LGUs) to provide more jobs for PWDs, helping create more opportunities for inclusion.
“Salamat gid sa pagdumala ni Gobernador Tamayo, ang mga PWDs pareho sa akon, may tsansa na nga magtrabaho kag maghatag kontribusyon sa komunidad. Ini nga inisyatibo dako nga bulig, indi lang para sa akon, kundi para sa bug-os nga komunidad sang PWDs sa probinsya,” Hervilla stated.
He further highlighted that employment in the provincial government is a monumental step, particularly in a sector where job opportunities are few and far between. “This is a rare chance for PWDs to prove our worth, and it’s something we can be proud of. It’s a blessing not only for me but for everyone in the PWD community,” he added.
Governor Tamayo’s unwavering commitment to PWD inclusion has left a powerful mark, offering more than just jobs—he’s providing empowerment, hope, and a brighter future. The employment opportunities at the Capitol are opening doors for PWDs, creating equal opportunities, and allowing them to be active contributors to society. Hervilla’s heartfelt gratitude reflects the deep impact this initiative has, not just for him, but for the entire PWD community.
