Governor Tamayo’s barangay visits in SoCot become basis for responsive public service delivery

Governor Reynaldo S. Tamayo, Jr. has emphasized that his visits to various barangays in South Cotabato serve as the foundation for implementing programs and services that are truly responsive to the needs of the people. This was highlighted during the recent “Governor Meets the Press”.

According to Governor Tamayo, flagship initiatives such as free hospitalization, free education, and other social services were conceptualized based on his direct consultations with local communities. He noted that these programs are a direct response to what ordinary citizens truly need.

In addition to his regular barangay visits, Governor Tamayo also gives importance to town hall meetings, which he sees as crucial platforms for listening to the concerns of the people. These gatherings allow citizens to voice their issues directly to the governor, ensuring a more participatory and transparent form of governance.

Currently, South Cotabato is composed of 200 barangays, all of which the governor has personally visited.

“We made sure to visit every barangay. Not a single one was left unvisited within a month after the elections since 2019. I believe that through this approach, we can truly understand—directly from the people—the kind of governance they want implemented in the province.” Governor Tamayo stated.

It is worth noting that Governor Tamayo’s hands-on approach to leadership—especially his consistent presence in grassroots communities—has long been part of his public service legacy, dating back to his time as the mayor of Tupi and continuing through his current term as provincial governor.
