The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) Officer-in-Charge (OIC) of South Cotabato was chosen to participate in the Training Program for Young Leaders under the Urban Management Course, a program uner the auspices of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) slated on August 18 to September his year.
PEMO-OIC Siegfred Flaviano was one of the ten participants from the Philippines that will participate in the 18-day training in Yokohama, Japan.
Part of the training is the conduct of series of lectures on the general aspects of Environmental Administration of Japanese Central and Local Governments and various measures undertaken in each environmental domain.
Aside from lectures, visits will be conducted in the different environment domains such as Air, Waterworks, Sewerage System, Treatment of Human Wastes, Waste and Recycling Affairs, Forest Conservation, Environmental Education, among others.
Likewise, exchanges will be made by participants to the Prefectural and City Governments about Environmental Administration before the culmination of the training.
JICA expects the participants to replicate the knowledge they acquired on the legal system regarding environment and various measures undertaken by local governments of Japan for the improvement of environment under relevant laws and over-all plans.
