The Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) has greenlit Matutum Holdings Development Corporation’s (MHDC) proposal to establish an expansive Information Technology (IT) Park, to be named the “Tupi IT Park”. Spanning an area of 15,000 square meters along the National Highway in Brgy. Poblacion, Tupi, South Cotabato, this significant development is poised to contribute significantly to the region’s economic growth.
Tyronn Jann Villanueva, the head of the South Cotabato Economic and Investments Promotion Center, conveyed that their team is diligently working to fulfill the supplementary prerequisites outlined in the PEZA board Resolution. These will subsequently be presented to the Office of the President for the essential endorsement of the IT Park’s establishment, culminating in the issuance of a Presidential Proclamation. Simultaneously, the Registration Agreement will be signed by the PEZA Director General.
“hopefully by September ma-submit na natin siya sa Office of the President. Ito yung isa sa mga major projects ni Gov. Tamayo, and of course, SCEIPC, in coordination with other offices here [PPDO, PEO], kumbaga ito ang main priority natin,” Villanueva said in an interview.
The formal endorsement of this project hinges on the forthcoming Presidential proclamation, a pivotal step in solidifying MHDC’s designation as the Developer/Operator of the IT Park. This decision was reached during the recent PEZA Board Meeting, convened on May 26th, 2023, at Pasay City.
Overall, the approval of the Tupi IT Park isn’t merely confined to bolstering South Cotabato’s economic landscape, it also carries the additional objective of creating substantial employment opportunities for the good people of the province.
